Just in time for the New Year 2026, we release what is probably the most fun I've had as a player in a one shot in a LONG time. And with this series, that's saying something. We are playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness!

Well, mostly. Ryan adjusted a lot of the rules on the fly because, just... geeeeez. But seriously, it was a blast to play, and at least part of that was because of the game system!

Hi! Welcome to an experimental section of the podcast: Side Stories. Here we plan to make smaller, more raw recordings with smaller casts, and often with people who can't be around for every show. This is to keep the content coming and to show you don't need a large group of friends around the table to have a blast with role playing games. Just you and a good pal is more than enough. R4pT0R, the not-at-all bumbling loser cyberpunk anarchist job-doers, have been promised the erasure of all their debt to the Yakuza if they just take down the only cyber-security company on Earth, which they've determined will cause untold chaos around the entire world as the 'Net fails and every major city will become disconnected from every other one. They have to figure out how to infiltrate the most secure building in Neo-Tokyo-3 and they can determine later whether to end the world as they know it or not. Honestly, it's a tougher choice than you'd think.

Today we're playing Crash the System! It's a Cyberpunk hack of Lasers & Feelings and it's a lot easier to get into than a certain OTHER Cyberpunk ttrpg that will remain nameless (at least until we talk about it in the first 10 mins of the episode). Also, we are missing Ali for this session, but we have two new friends to sub in for her. Meet them when you check out tonight's episode of Crash the System!

In honor of the spookiness of the season, we test out our first horror game: Vaesen! The Nordic Horror game set in the time when Christianity was just starting to spread and, for better or worse, pushing out the pagan beliefs and supernatural entities known as the Vaesen from the frozen north.

We had a great time, and Ryan did an amazing job as always as the GM. So join Ali, Jason, Ryan and myself as we play.. Vaesen!
