Dr. Shelley Ann Pamela Burke, DNP, MSN, RN, CPN is a Registered Nurse who holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Born in South America.

Dr. Burke has lived most of her life in the United States. As faculty at UCI, her focus is on children’s health, women’s issues, and global nursing. Her first global nursing initiative launches in her native country of Guyana. Having worked in multiple hospitals, academia, and as a travel nurse, Dr. Burke has built a vast 40-year career in healthcare.

She brings this valuable experience to her first book, The Unsung Heroes: Nurses. Dr. Burke is also a wife and mother, and she resides in California.

David Finkle is a writer and journalist focusing on the arts and politics. Based in Manhattan, he is the author of two-story collections, People Tell Me Things and Great Dates With Some Late Greats. He has also written three novels, The Great Gatsby Murder Case, The Man With the Overcoat and Keys to An Empty House, as well as the award-winning illustrated book of rhyming verse, Humpty Trumpty Hit a Brick Wall. Finkle is a theater critic for New York Stage Review and has contributed to many publications, including The New York Times, The New York Post, The Nation, The New Yorker and New York Magazine. He is heard weekly on The Hour of Lateral Thinking podcast.

Anne Hand was born in 1985 in New York and currently divides her time between Massachusetts and Mexico City. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and a Master of Education degree from Harvard University. She has spent her career blending research, policy, and practice to create social impact in the Americas and beyond. A recognized expert in global education and development, she has frequently published on topics related to technology and society. Austrian Again is her first book.
