In the wake of the recent and most tragic news from the border, we're still a go and it's full steam ahead to Mexico to continue our mission to support directly our Mexican Artisans and the shop keepers they work with, in need of our help now more than ever as instances like these continue to whittle down the national and international tourism they rely on. While safety is never a guarantee anywhere, be it on the road in Mexico or on my way down to the border, hear a bit about the precautions I take to mitigate and minimize my exposure to risk and danger as a little bit of information goes a long way.

Hear about the sizable population of American-born people, quietly living in Mexico, raised as Mexican Nationals, primarily on the Mexican side of the southern US border but also found throughout all of Mexico. I talk a bit about some conversations I've had, not only with Mexican parents that had strategized to give birth in the US, but also with their young adult children regarding the challenges they face as they now seek to enter either the US or Mexican job market. I found it to be a very interesting and complex aspect of life on the US/Mexico border not often discussed.

Story time! Hear about the very first trip I ever made to drive down to get our goods in person. Everything was going fine until I arrived and received a text message saying they were going to kidnap me and cut my head off. Probably my least favorite day ever.

In this week's episode, I discuss a few recurring challenges I encounter while doing business within a few of Mexico's Indigenous Communities. I wish things were always as smooth as how they appear during our Live Sales, but as you'll hear, there are a lot of background discussions being had prior to filming on location and they don't always go as well as I would hope. While I always look to strike a deal that is fair and equitable to all involved, many times that's easier said than done.
