• Eric & The Spice Pussies: The Mexican Candy Challenge
    Feb 21 2026

As we recorded this episode winter was still grinding on with bitter cold and howling winds, so we spent a few minutes dreaming about spring and identifying signs that mark the change of seasons.

We did a shortie episode a while ago in which we recalled our favorite childhood candy. Our sweet memories inspired Ruben's niece Krickett to give Jocó some of Mexican candy while he was recently in San Antonio. We dig into our bags of candy and provide letter-grades for these new-to-us treats. It ain't pretty.

Mostly because we're constantly being assaulted by it, we huddle up to discuss how we're dealing with artificial intelligence (AI), both personally and professionally. We aren't that intelligent in the first place, so we gotta watch our backs.

We wrap up with a whiparound about the best sports movies of all time. Get your list out and let us know what we missed!

  • SHORTIE! Lose Yourself: What fictional world would you choose to live in?
    Feb 14 2026

Because she just can't get enough of us, our producer occasionally throws us a question that we haven't heard 'til we sit down to record, so there's basically no prep. This week: If you could choose any fictional fantasy land to live in, where would you pick and why? We love our sci-fi and fantasy shows, so we jumped right in on this one. Except for Ween. He had to work pretty hard to come up with his.

We also reached a smart-ass comedy milestone of sorts, so if you're keeping score at home get ready for some good chuckles.

These 'shortie' episodes move along pretty quickly, so you'll be done with this one before you get back home with those Kwik Star blueberry dunkers.

  • Live from Iowa! It's Late Night with Connect More!
    Feb 7 2026

We recorded this episode a few weeks after the holidays, so it seemed like a good time to do a little housekeeping and clean up some loose ends. We thank a very generous friend from Cedar Falls for a nice donation to the swear jar to benefit the American Cancer Society and explain why that's our charity of choice.

Some of our listeners may not realize that we post lots of 'behind the scenes' content on our Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels. Be sure to check them out for even more fun! We welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions and you can always contact us through those channels.

We'd like to feature more of your voices on the pod, so we have a challenge: If you have a question, suggestion, or feedback, record a voice memo for us and email it to cnxmorepod@gmail.com If we play your comment on the pod we'll send you a VERY exclusive Connect More mug! To see a picture of the mug...check out our social media pages!

After that was out of the way, we explore our deep history with late-night television and how it shaped our worldview and sense of humor. We examine the current state of late-night TV and what the future might hold.

This episode drops right before the 2026 Super Bowl, so we take some time to review our favorite stories of the last NFL season. It was a wild one filled with ups & downs, surprises, eye-rolls, and retirements.

Getchyer ears on, good buddies, because we use the whiparound to reveal our CB handles! What's a CB handle? Google it, kids! This conversation led to some laughs about our favorite trucker songs, so naturally we put together a playlist of some classics. Did we miss your favorite trucker song? Drop us a note! Put the hammer down, and we'll see you on the flip-flop!

  • SHORTIE! Ghost in the Machine: Our paranormal experiences
    Jan 31 2026

Things get creepy this week as our producer asks us if we've ever had any paranormal experiences. We had to dig pretty deep on this one because we may not be interesting enough for ghosts to mess with us a lot, but we've certainly had our fair share of weird or hard-to-explain occurrences. Remember, we grew up getting freaked out by Leonard Nimoy's "In Search Of..." so we know our way around scary stories and unexplained mysteries. Join us as we "explore the boundaries of the known, the unknown, and the unknowable..."

  • We Used To Be Cool: Our picks for best new music of 2025
    Jan 24 2026

The boys took a few weeks off from taping during the holidays, so it was fun to get back together and have some laughs. All of us have been to San Antonio at some point to see our pal Ruben and his wonderful family, so Eric gave us the rundown of his recent trip there and all the fun times with our friends Down Under. That's what they call Texas, right??

The holidays are often times when families gather to share fellowship, food, and cut-throat games of UNO. We swap stories about how UNO brings out the worst in our sweet, law-abiding loved ones. These are good people, pillars of our community. But put them around a table playing UNO? Oof. Tune in for lessons on effective cheating techniques and learn who are the worst offenders in our crew.

The start of a new year is also a time for reflection on the past year. We decided that in 2025 we would try to learn about new music and hear what the kids are listening to these days. This process was a ton of fun, and we discovered so many cool new songs and artists. From Car Seat Headrests to Wednesday, we find gems from rock, blues, "Americana," R&B, Latin, and everything in between. We found SO MUCH great stuff that we made a playlist with our favorite 2025 discoveries. We want to hear about your 2025 picks, too. Drop them in the comments here or on the Connect More podcast facebook page!

We wrap things up with a Connect More classic: band names! We're not sure if you think it's funny, but it sure cracks us up!

  • SHORTIE! Need some advice? We're full of it!
    Jan 17 2026

Our producer knows we've seen some stuff, so she asks us about advice we've received that has helped us out along the way. In these shortie episodes we don't hear the questions ahead of time, so we give some off-the-cuff responses about words of wisdom that have helped us become the mostly well-adjusted, fairly decent humans that we are today. As always, we welcome our listeners to drop your good advice in the comments and maybe we'll read some of them on-air in an upcoming episode!

  • Binge-Worthy: Best Streaming Shows of 2025
    Jan 10 2026

Even tired, beat-down GenX'ers need goals, so we start off with a few things we're hoping to accomplish in 2026. Learning new languages, reading more, sharpening our AI acuity, and learning how to not eat like a 12-year-old are all on our lists. Not bad for a bunch of old dogs, right??

We all spend WAY too much time streaming TV shows, so it might as well be something good. We swap recommendations about our favorite shows. Sci-fi, drama, documentaries, comedies, and everything in between find their way onto our lists. Did we miss your favorite show? Drop it in the Comments - we'd love to check it out!

Now that you think we're all hip & edgy because we're watching these cool shows...we'll bring it back to Earth and reveal how clueless we are about the slang being used by 'kids these days.' We shake our fists at some clouds and gripe about stupid current lingo, but we also think there are a few words we could work into our daily conversations. We'll see how that goes. Maybe this should have been numbered episode 67??

We wrap up with some reflections on pop culture icons and loved ones that we lost in the last year. This whole podcast is about staying connected to the important folks in our lives, so we get grounded in some of the things that really matter. Hope you all take some time to reflect on what matters most to you, too. Happy New Year, listeners!

  • SHORTIE! We Have Clearance, Clarence. Could these guys land a plane in an emergency??
    Jan 3 2026

Because our producer just can't get enough of us, she tosses us an extra question every now and then. This week she's curious if we're dumb enough to think we could actually land a jumbo jet in an emergency (with a little help from the control tower). Research shows that a stupidly large number of men in the US think they could do that...even though they can't. How do the Connect More boys think they'd do? Tune in to find out. We also talk about other skills that we could pull out in a pinch. What's your secret skill that would save the day? Talk it over with your people next time you're connecting with them and have a few good laughs, just like we did.
