  • Introducing Cinema Field Guide & An Overview of New German Cinema

    This is the very first episode of Cinema Field Guide, a podcast hosted by Felicia Maroni and Bryan Loomis. Felicia has a degree in film history from the University of Toronto and has hosted her podcast, Seeing Faces in Movies, since 2023. Bryan is a film critic at ScreenAge Wasteland and curates a local experimental and arthouse film screening series in Knoxville, Tennessee.

    The first season of Cinema Field Guide will cover the New German Cinema film movement. In this episode, Felicia and Bryan discuss the state of German cinema before the movement, the Oberhausen Manifesto, the ways that subsidies and television co-production played a role in film development, the hallmarks and key figures of the movement, and how the movement ended.
