They may sound similar — but they’re not the same. And confusing them can quietly distort how we think, judge situations, and pursue truth.

Facts don’t come with a narrative attached. When we’re striving for truth, we have to learn how to separate what’s 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 from what’s 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 — and what’s simply assumption.

Today we’re talking about a trap everyone falls into: the Appeal to Authority fallacy—when we assume something is true just because an “expert” (or someone influential) says it is… without actually looking at the evidence or whether they’re even qualified to speak on it.

From “Trust the science” to “Don’t trust the experts,” both sides do it.

And if we’re not careful, we can end up outsourcing our thinking instead of practicing discernment.
