Episode Title: What Was I Made For? | John 10

    Episode Number: 10

    Episode Overview:

Welcome to this episode of Bible and Beats! It's our 10th EPISODE!!! :)
Today, we’re diving into John 10, where Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. This chapter is rich with themes of care, protection, and the intimate relationship between the shepherd and his sheep. Alongside our scripture reading, we have a fresh new beat to keep the vibes uplifting and engaging. Enjoy!

    Scripture Reading:

    • John 10: The Good Shepherd
      • Jesus the Good Shepherd (John 10:1-21):
        • Verses 1-5: Jesus begins by contrasting the Good Shepherd with a thief and a robber. The Good Shepherd enters by the gate and is recognized by the sheep. The sheep follow Him because they know His voice, but they will not follow a stranger.
        • Verses 6-10: Jesus explains that He is the gate for the sheep. Whoever enters through Him will be saved and will find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
        • Verses 11-18: Jesus declares, "I am the good shepherd." The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep, unlike a hired hand who abandons the sheep when danger approaches. Jesus speaks of the intimate relationship He has with His sheep and His willingness to lay down His life and take it up again, emphasizing His authority and divine mission.
        • Verses 19-21: There is division among the Jews because of Jesus' words. Some accuse Him of being demon-possessed, while others recognize the authority and truth in His teachings.
      • The Festival of Dedication (John 10:22-42):
        • Verses 22-30: During the Festival of Dedication in Jerusalem, Jesus is confronted by Jewish leaders who ask Him to state plainly if He is the Messiah. Jesus responds by affirming His works as testimony to His identity and speaks of the security of those who follow Him: "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand."
        • Verses 31-39: The Jews attempt to stone Jesus for blasphemy because He claimed to be one with the Father. Jesus defends His claims by referring to His works and the Scripture, challenging their understanding and urging them to believe based on His works if not His words.
        • Verses 40-42: Jesus retreats across the Jordan, where John the Baptist had been baptizing. Many people follow Him and believe in Him there, recognizing the truth in John's testimony about Jesus.
