  • Ep. #540: January 16-22, 1997 with Dominic Garrini
    Jan 26 2026

Kris and David are joined by Dominic Garrini (@dgarrinibc) to discuss the week that was January 16-22, 1997. Topics of discussion include:

    • Royal Rumble ’97 at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, featuring a flu-ridden Shawn Michaels winning the WWF Title from Sycho Sid, a weirdly booked Royal Rumble won by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, lots of AAA wrestlers on the show despite the fans having no idea who they were, and lots more.
    • Raw the next night featuring a very angry Bret Hart as he "quits" before coming back later to attack Austin, as the tone of the company is starting to change more and more.
    • A wild and wooly episode of Shotgun Saturday Night as Terry Funk gets unhinged in a bar in San Antonio, which also features the very first televised match between Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Rocky Maivia.
    • The Triple Crown and AJPW World Tag Team Titles both change hands in a matter of a few days in All Japan.
    • Giant Baba meeting with Atsushi Onita about possibly working together.
    • Mark Kerr making his MMA debut in Brazil.
    • The famous John Lober vs. Frank Shamrock fight in Hawaii.
    • ECW running a TV taping in Scranton that was very newsworthy, plus an update on their upcoming PPV.
    • The Nation of Domination in full effect on Memphis TV, featuring Tracy Smothers as Shaquille Ali and much more, including Jeff Conaway from “Taxi” and “Grease” as Mike Samples’ new buddy.
    • Chris Benoit and Kevin Sullivan just beat the hell out of each other on consecutive nights at a record breaking Nitro in Chicago and then the Clash of the Champions special in Milwaukee.
    • "Macho Man" Randy Savage makes his return to WCW on Nitro and aligns himself with Sting in a definite "What could've been?” storyline.

It's always great having Dom join us, and he was great as usual, as this ended up being a helluva show!!

    Jan 19 2026

Kris and David are back as we discuss the week that was January 6-12, 2010. Topics of discussion include:

    • The immediate aftermath of TNA going head-to-head with WWE on January 4th and the politics behind the scenes regarding pushing Spike TV to give TNA a live weekly Monday night time slot.
    • Jeff Jarrett's role in TNA being up in the air again.
    • TNA airing a replay of the January 4th show in it's normal slot, which featured a bunch of both expected and unexpected edits changing the presentation from the live broadcast.
    • Brian Kendrick explaining why he was fired from WWE.
    • Vince Russo being Vince Russo in an interview.
    • Kenta Kobashi getting surgery as his days as an active wrestler are numbered.
    • NOAH getting rid of some of their more tenured talent as the business is changing in Japan.
    • News on the premiere of Wrestlicious and how this promotion came to be.
    • Randy Orton "assaults" a fan at a restaurant…or does he?
    • Ted “The Trailer” McNaylor gets his head shaved on Smackdown at the behest of CM Punk.
    • Mike Tyson guest hosts Raw and actually technically is in the main event, teaming with Chris Jericho against DX, and you can guess what happened there.

2010 being 16 years ago is damn crazy, and we had a lot of fun looking backm so we hope you have as much fun listening!

  • Ep. #538: January 2-7, 1988
    Jan 12 2026

Kris and David ARE BACK!!!!! after our battles with the epic Winter 2025-2026 Flu and discussing the (almost-)week that was January 2-7, 1988. Topics of discussion include:

    • Andre the Giant attacking Hulk Hogan after his match with King Kong Bundy on an otherwise not very newsworthy episode of Saturday Night's Main Event to heat up their match in prime time on The Main Event a month later.
    • King Kong Bundy and his job as the celebrity spokesman for Vendex Head Start Computers, which allowed him to more or less retire from wrestling
    • Curt Hennig defending his AWA World Title in AJPW…in disappointing fashion, at least according to insiders.
    • NJPW kicking off the first ever Top of the Super Juniors tournament with a LOADED lineup of talent.
    • ICW trying to heat up an Iron Sheik vs. Georga Skaaland feud of all times.
    • Renegade Tobacco getting heavily involved with Jarrett Promotions, complete with a press conference on TV.
    • Shawn Michaels being completely hammered on live TV as he’s going off on Scott Hall and Ken Wayne.
    • Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee talk about their friendly rivalry and the importance of the Lord of the Ring…ring.
    • World Class starting to heat up with Ken Mantell is back in power.
    • JCP TV starting to get spiced up as Lex Luger is catching fire as a babyface and they experimented with taping the TBS show on the road.
    • Ric Flair accosting photographer Linda Roufa for a TV promo, which was quite the 1988 moment.

This was a damn fun show and it's great to get back in the saddle again!!!
