  • 170 - Get Naked
    Nov 30 2025
This is episode 170 of the Baehr and Curadh Podcast. We are going to talk about being naked.
    • The University of Washington’s locker rooms became gender-inclusive.
    • Nudity is not permitted.
    • UC Davis and some YMCA facilities are following suit.
    • Some of the YMCA locker rooms are not gender-inclusive, but they still have banned nudity.
    • Writer and academic Jacob Beckert wrote a piece about it in The Atlantic.
    • "For more than a century," Beckert writes, "the cultural norm in the United States was that nudity was acceptable — at least within same-sex environments. Over the past couple of decades or so, that idea has largely dissolved."
    • "Today, the only naked bodies that many Americans will likely ever see are their own, a partner's, or those on a screen," he writes. "Gone are our unvarnished points of physical comparison — the ordinary, unposed figures of other people."
    • But is that a bad thing?
    • In the past, men and boys would swim naked together, at the YMCA and in nature.
    • The most salient point — about what a loss of nudity might do to body image — is also his most interesting one, and gay readers had plenty to say about it in a Reddit thread.
    • "The skewed sense that you get about male anatomy if you only ever see naked bodies in porn is yet another stressor for young guys."
    • Many of the gay men on the thread also talked about being terrified of public nudity in high school due to their fear of arousal.
    • "I played football as a teen and we all showered after. It was embarrassing and I didn’t wanna get caught checking out my teammates, but I still did."
    • Beckert wrote, "Rather than finding new ways to conceal ourselves, Americans need to reimagine the naked body — seeing it not as a natural fact of human life."

  • 168 - Stupid Things Christians Believe
    Nov 9 2025
This is episode 168 of the Baehr and Curadh Podcast. We are going to talk about stupid things Christians believe.
    • Pascals Wager.
    • Their deity is an all-knowing, all-powerful god that created the Universe.
    • God had to sacrifice himself on a crucifix to undo sins done by the people he created in his own image.
    • "Since Jesus died on the cross for our sins, dare we make his martyrdom meaningless by not committing them?"
    • God required the crucifixion instead of just forgiving everyone.
    • And this is after he killed all humans and animals except the ones on the ark to purge all sin on the planet.
    • Transubstantiation. "The transformation of ordinary bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ while still maintaining the appearance of ordinary bread and wine."
    • The concept that just to have a lustful thought is a sin.
    • God gave you free will, but everything is according to his plan.
    • Despite being made in god's perfect image, we still have to circumcise the foreskin of the penis.
    • Everything that is good comes from God, and everything that is bad comes from Satan.
    • This all-powerful god allows innocent little children to suffer hunger and disease though they did nothing to deserve it.
    • That everything in the Bible is the inspired words of god.
    • That after counting the descendants of Adam and Eve in the Bible, the earth is only about 6,000 years old.
    • That God just made the earth "appear" to be millions of years old (with dinosaur bones and everything) to test our faith.
    • God darkened the Egyptian Pharos heart to give himself a reason to commit mass infanticide.
    • Only your Christian sect is right. It is the one truth to get into heaven. There are thousands of branches but YOURS is the only true religion.
    • Men making love together is a mortal sin, and they should be put to death for it.
    • That without the reward of heaven and the punishment of hell, people would not be good on their own.
    • There is only one true god, and the rest are imposters.
