  • Shining a light on Par Track Ltd - a Community Benefit Society in Cornwall
    Jul 19 2023
Par Track is a unique greenspace with sports facilities and a Pump Track, nestled in between the villages of Par, Tywardreath and St Blazey. Saved from ruin, the site was transferred to the community a few years ago, who now run it themselves, successfully. It has a thriving cafe, football pitches, a green trail, an athletics track and a community library. A handful of dedicated volunteers have turned it from a declining facility, into a thriving hub....the job is not done...but the journey so far has been a whirlwind...in this first episode, I talk to the Chair of the Community Benefit Society Collin and one of his fellow Directors, Chris, who is also a Run Director for Junior Park Run, a vital piece in the jigsaw.

  • Shining a light on the Morvargh Sailing Project
    Jun 5 2023
In our first full podcast, we delve into the life of Matt and Vicky Barraud, who founded the Morvargh Sailing Project in 2010. Morvargh is a sail training organisation and a Community Interest Company and they take young people on sailing trips aboard the Helen Mary R, a 57ft sail training vessel. Young people are pushed beyond their comfort zones through the experience of sailing around the coast of Britain. This leads to considerable changes in their confidence and self-belief, amongst many other things. Matt and Vicky invited me aboard their boat on a beautiful sunny day in Fowey and we chatted through the challenges of creating social impact...please comment, like or share if you found this helpful! #bcauseimpactmatters
