Around the Block is a community news program from the Block by Block team at WPPM-LP 106.5 FM. On this program we explore issues in the Philadelphia region with voices from the community – with reports from our team of community journalists and live in-studio interviews.
This episode features a report on Philadelphia City Council's hearing on ICE OUT legislation that would place some limits on federal immigration enforcement in the city, and a conversation with Erme Maula about the city of Philadelphia's budget process, why it matters, and how people can get involved. Erme is a South Philly resident with over 25 years of experience in public and community health. She’s a passionate advocate for public spaces in her community and across the city. Erme has been a part of the Philly Revenue Project, The People's Budget Office, Alliance for a Just Philadelphia, and the Tax Advisory Committee to City Council
