The Roanoke Valley SPCA is partnering with Pets for Patriots to offer discounted adoptions and match veterans with harder-to-place shelter animals. The goal is to provide companionship for veterans and loving homes for vulnerable pets. Eligible animals are listed at RVSPCA.org.🌦️ Weekend Cool Off: Temperatures dip this weekend. Highs reach the 50s and low 60s Saturday before falling into the upper 30s and 40s Sunday. A low-pressure system brings a small chance of showers Saturday and a better chance of rain Sunday, with a few snowflakes possible west of the Blue Ridge.🐶 Rabies Vaccine Recall: Boehringer Ingelheim is recalling certain rabies vaccine vials after some were found to contain sterile water instead of vaccine.     A 5K for a lifesaving cause, a cold start to the weekend, and a night built to celebrate - here are your 3 Things to Know: 🏃 Compress & Shock 5K: The Compress and Shock Foundation is hosting its first-ever 5K this Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Roanoke Greenway. The nonprofit supports cardiac arrest survivors and provides free CPR and defibrillator training. The group has already trained more than 20,000 people. Registration is open until 1:30 at compressandshock.org. ☀️ Valentine’s Weekend Forecast: Friday stays mostly sunny with highs in the 40s and low 50s. Valentine’s Day remains dry as temperatures climb from the 20s into the 50s. Sunday turns chilly with steady rain and highs in the 40s.
