 Good afternoon. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, step outside and you might think winter packed its bags. We're sitting at a comfortable 67 degrees under mainly clear skies right now. but don't be fooled — a classic Georgia power play is unfolding overhead. In the next 24 hours., A cold front slipped through this morning and stalled to our south. Meanwhile, high pressure over New England is funneling cool air down the Appalachian spine. This creates a wedge. Cold air damming against the mountains. It's a battle between retreating cold and advancing warmth. Metro Atlanta climbs to 70 degrees this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Southeast winds gust to 20 miles an hour. Tonight brings increasing clouds with a low around 50 degrees. Down along the coast, that northeast flow is pulling moisture inland. Patchy fog develops after 3 A.M. and could reduce visibility significantly through early Tuesday morning. A Dense Fog Advisory is already in effect for Camden and Glynn counties until 8 A.M. Tuesday. Coastal areas top out near 70 degrees Tuesday after that morning fog clears. Eastern Georgia sits right in the transition zone. You're seeing mostly cloudy tonight with a low around 52 degrees. Tuesday brings partly sunny skies and a high near 68 degrees. One note for eastern Georgia. The Ogeechee River at Midville is forecast to reach minor flood stage early Tuesday morning. A Flood Warning is in effect through Thursday for Burke. Emanuel. and Jenkins counties. Here's the bigger picture. That wedge erodes by midweek. A strong ridge builds overhead and temperatures take off. Wednesday we jump to the upper 70s. By Thursday and Friday, we're talking low to mid 80s. That's 50 degrees to 50 degrees above normal for early March. Rain chances return Friday and especially this weekend as humidity increases. Enjoy this pleasant Monday and the dramatic warm-up ahead.
