  • Episode 7 Being as a Team
    Feb 19 2026

“Team” sounds good in theory — but what does it actually look like in a marriage?

Liz and I share how we build an equal partnership without traditional roles — and why contribution matters more than control. We don’t have a traditional-values relationship. There isn’t a single “provider,” a single “homemaker,” or a rigid script we’re trying to follow. We both contribute — financially, emotionally, logistically, creatively. We both carry family responsibilities. We both do chores. We both drop the ball sometimes. Being a team, for us, isn’t about roles. It’s about responsibility. It’s about respect. It’s about choosing each other — over and over again. This conversation is part teaching, part reflection, and part us being a little silly because… it was late. And yes, our dog Tramp makes a guest appearance, because apparently he has thoughts about teamwork too.

In this episode, we talk about:

What “team” actually means inside a relationship

Why contribution matters more than control

Balancing family expectations and shared responsibility

What happens when ego gets in the way

If you’re building a partnership that doesn’t fit a traditional mold — or you’re trying to figure out how to move from “me vs. you” to “us vs. the problem” — this one’s for you.

🎙 2 Poor Kids is about real conversations, shared growth, and learning how to build something strong without pretending to be perfect.

If this episode resonates, let us know what “team” looks like in your relationship.

  • Episode 6 Know Thyself
    Feb 10 2026

In this episode of 2 Poor Kids, Liz and Christian sit down with a brand-new conversation game we’d never played before — and let it guide us into some surprisingly intimate territory.Using a simple two-step format, we each draw a depth prompt designed to spark meaningful conversation, then pair it with an archetype card. From there, we’re asked to rate how closely we identify with that archetype — and guess how the other person will rate themselves. What follows is honest reflection, a little vulnerability, and the kind of dialogue that doesn’t usually happen unless you slow down long enough to make space for it.This isn’t about winning or losing. It’s about:How well you actually know the person sitting across from youWhat we assume about our partners (and where we’re wrong)How intentional questions can open doors to deeper connectionIf you’re curious about tools that encourage real conversation — or you just want to listen in on a candid, unscripted moment between two people navigating life together — this episode is for you.🎙 2 Poor Kids is a podcast about real conversations, shared growth, and choosing connection over performance.
