Wer glaubt hier handle es sich um eine akademische und ausgeglichene Darstellung einer schwierigen politischen Dauerkrise, befindet sich auf dem Holzpfad. Schon im ersten Kapitel demaskiert sich Spencer indem er ausschließlich westliche Geschichtsschreibung für seine argumentative Untermauerung nutzt. Den Anspruch Israels auf das Territorium manifestiert er, fast ausschließlich über erstens die Bibel und zweitens darüber das die jüdische Bevölkerung unter der osmanischen Herrschaft gegängelt wurde und es trotzdem weiterhin dort ausgehalten habe. Dass die Europäische Judenverfolgung (die ja eine der stärksten Motivationen für die Emmigration bildete) eindeutig auf dem Mist der christlichen Kirchen gedieh (insbesondere der Katholischen) findet bei dem Autor lediglich in einem kurzen Absatz über die Kreuzzüge ein kurze Erwähnung. Mit fortschreitendem Text tritt die eindeutige Islamophobie des Autors zunehmend in den vordergrund, weshalb ich das Hörbuch abgebrochen habe. dann habe ich mir den Wikipediaeintrag über Robert Spencer durchgelesen und fand meinen Verdacht bestätigt. Wer sich ernsthaft mit dem Konflikt in der Region befassen möchte dem rate ich von diesem hörbuch eindeutig ab.
