I guess you could say I was a damsel in distress, and he was my knight in shining armor. But more accurately, I was a girl with a lot of bad luck, and he was a guy with a lot of muscles and tattoos.

Jude "Lucky" Lucketti wasn't just a sexy, brooding construction worker. He was my own personal hero, showing up in all the right places at the right times. Yes, the story arc is a bit boring from time to time. Yes, this is not a happy romance. A lot of serious topics are thrown into your face, stirring up emotions that can make you feel uncomfortable. In the end, it was utterly annoying seeing how lacking conversational skills make things super complicated. The „sexy“ parts are somehow weird and awkward, and the book would be fine without them. Still, the male voice actor is one of my favorites, doing a great job. I listened to this audio book because of him, and was not disappointed. Spoiler: at least there is a Happy End, even though the journey is kind of nervewrecking.

I went into this thinking it was just another spicy romance story and spicy it was, with trauma. Trigger warning for eating disorders, abuse, addiction, grooming, bullying, emotional abuse, child abuse and severe neglect. I hope that, that was most of them. If you're looking for a spicy romance story to switch of your brain, this is not it. The abuse the main character goes thru could be straight out of a true crime documentary. Please be cautious when listening to this it is mentally taxing and emotionally draining.
