👉🏻 That’s definitely a feel-good book. Something you can read or listen to while leaning back and relax.

💡 The story is about Samantha Thomson, a respected neurosurgeon, and Hayden Perez, an ER nurse. Both work in the same hospital, but only get to know each other through Sam’s lucrative offer.

I must say that the story is predictable, but it is lovingly portrayed and told. There are also exciting side-characters, such as Luce, a nurse, Hayden's family and Sam's brother, who accompany the plot. Luce is non-binary, and there is a member of Hayden's family who has Alzheimer's. All subplots accompany both main personas until the end. Therefore, I can also say that each character is well thought through and has depth. Also, the work in the hospital is portrayed realistically and convincingly.

♥️ It is a recommendable book for all those who like faux-marriage stories and would like to treat themselves to a feel-good book.

One of the rare books that manages to get away with a completely predictable storyline and just teetering on the edge of cheesy but never tumbling over. Mostly believable main characters (although Sam goes from socially awkward to simply laid-back and a loner a little too quickly) and adorable supporting characters who will stay with you for a long time. The (of course happy) end will come way too soon.

The story was predictable but still very very nice. The way how Alzheimer's Disease was woven into it was very sensitive and thoughtful.

The narrator was very good, with the exception of the sex scenes. There I thought she was reading to fast which kind of ruined them.

However, it was funny and sad. Made me laugh and cry.

G Benson ist mittlerweile eine meiner Lieblingsautoren und auch diese Geschichte hat mich von Anfang an gleich gefesselt. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist genau mein Ding: Locker, humorvoll, Spannung bis zum Schluss und alles verpackt mit sehr viel Gefühl. Ich konnte gar nicht aufhören zu lesen weil die Geschichte immer mehr in die Tiefe ging und immer weiter bisher verschwiegene Wunde Punkte beider Charaktere aufgedeckt hat. Ich habe bis zum Schluss mitgefiebert, gehofft und gelacht - viel und laut gelacht - und recherchiert! Immer wieder beeindruckend, wie die Autorin ernst zu nehmende Themen in eine bezaubernde Liebesgeschichte mitintegriert. Das Buch hat mich dazu gebracht mich mit dem Thema Alzheimer und Non-Binary/Genderqueer auseinanderzusetzen. Besonders die liebevolle als auch verzweifelte Hingabe der Familie zu Hayden’s an Alzheimer erkrankten Mutter hat mich sehr nachdenklich gestimmt.

Alle Charaktere, als auch Nebenchataktere sind sehr sympathisch und am liebsten würde man sie alle einfach mal drücken - am meisten aber Abuela :)
