Inhaltsangabe

In the wake of the Dropsite Massacre at Isstvan V, the survivors of the Salamanders Legion searched long and hard for their fallen primarch, but to no avail. Little did they know that while Vulkan might have wished himself dead, he lives still...languishing in a hidden cell for the entertainment of a cruel gaoler, his brother Konrad Curze.

Enduring a series of hellish tortures designed to break his body and spirit, Vulkan witnesses the depths of the Night Haunter's depravity but also discovers something else - a revelation that could change the course of the entire war.

Skip this one

Out of all the Heresy Books up to this point this one is the worst I read so far. It is not completely bereft of occasional cool or badass moments, every now and again it even manages to get its themes right and makes you re-evaluate the characters of Vulkan and Curze. Over all however I couldn´t even bring myself to finish it. Vulkans perspective seems completely unfitting for a primarch, Curze is a joke, all the Astartes Characters battling it out on the planet are forgettable. Unfortunately it is somewhat required to understand the next book in the series called "The Unremembered Empire" which I am happy to say is pretty awesome.
In conclusion: Unless you are a huge Salamanders fan and just NEED to know how Vulkan discovered his ability, skip this one (And even if you are prepare to be disappointed).
