Über diesen Titel

It's been a busy month for thirty-two-year-old Jack Mitchel.

Three weeks ago, he died.

Two weeks ago, he founded the first Faction in the ultra-immersive, fantasy-based VRMMORPG, Viridian Gate Online.

A week and a half ago the world ended, destroyed by a cataclysmic asteroid.

Seven days ago, he conquered the Imperial city of Rowanheath, bringing all of Eldgard to the brink of war.

Though Jack's Faction, the Crimson Alliance, has a tenuous truce with tech genius and Imperial lord, Robert Osmark, Jack knows it can't last. Osmark is devious and power hungry, and it's only a matter of time before he sends his forces to wipe Jack and his underdog crew off the map for good.

If Jack hopes to survive another month inside of VGO, he must find a way to beat Osmark and his army of bloodthirsty thugs, and a new quest—the Path of the Jade Lord—may be just the ticket. But this quest will be far harder than anything Jack's faced before, pushing him to his mental, physical, and moral limits. And if Jack isn't careful, his quest to defeat Osmark and the Empire may end up turning him into the despot he's been fighting against.

Within the realm of LitRPG, too many authors focus too much on technicalities, mentioning game mechanics, stats, skills, etc. This is not a trap which the author fell into. After listening to the first three books, I must commend the author for his strong world building and interesting meta story constructions (i.e. the story being told over several books).

Two small comments about things I liked less:
- Game mechanics: a character having a shattered shoulder and suffering a "broken bone debuff for 2 min" (after which the broken bone is healed automatically, without any magical or other type of healing, seems completely unrealistic and disappointing.
- Narration: it's good when the narrator gets involved in the story and conveys passion, but I feel it is overdone here: one should not get excited when reading a chapter title, or skill description. No major issue, but a tad irritating. Good job otherwise.

Great meta story with (for me) very minor glitches

The proragonist in particular regularly suffers from story-dictated selective amnesia, failing to use tools he should be familiar with as a supposed MMORPG veteran. At other times features like voice chat are introduced only to conveniently not being paid any attention to later on when the story demands of the main characters to suddenly turn into a gaggle of idiots in order to progress the plot. It's infuriating because occasionally you'll find genuine potential

Don't get me wrong. Setting and story are great, but the way of writing this author uses annoys the s... Out of me. If I hear a double adjective like slowly, carefully or slowly almost leisurely again I'll stop listening to this series. And the cast always holler. They never shout or say... What kind of language is this?
MC is not OP but nice.
