Awesome performance from the author, which I really enjoyed.

However I didn't like the book itself, way too educational for my taste. It made feel there was a task to pack as many AIDS-remembrance into a book as possible, and while an army of dead comment all the happenings, these stories are ordinary, boring and feel unfinished. (I feel awful writing these thinking about the memory of the dead, sorry!)

Usually there's a story with or without a moral. Here I felt no story but tons of moral. Wasn't even sure if this book still meets the category of a novel. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

I expected a lot of this book for various reason and I can only say: I was in no way disappointed. I fell in love with David Levithans voice and story and cried on more than One occasion over how true the told is and how painful it must be to experience it.
I would recommend it to pretty much everyone who is slighty interested in the whole idea of the book.

The storyline revolving around the kiss, combined with several small, seemingly isolated narrative threads running in parallel, opens up a disturbingly fascinating moral and psychological channel. Within this structure, the chorus functions as a truly unique—and here, downright brilliant—solution. ✨
It is genuinely surprising how effectively the author unfolds the emotional worlds and inner landscapes of the characters, articulating their thoughts without relying on internal monologue or a conventional, plot-driven arc of character development. The story itself is almost beside the point, yet everything else somehow rises into an “extra” category: the diversity of characters is a solid 5/5, the portrayal of psychological dynamics between them 5/5, the parallel storytelling 5/5, and the overall clarity and readability—despite the book’s relative compactness—also a confident 5/5. 💛📖
