She tells her own story in this audiobook, speaking quite eloquently. . . . She talks about the president's childhood, when he learned to be selfish, manipulative, and greedy at the hands of his father, Fred (Mary's grandfather). She speaks about family holiday meals—characterized by jealousy, bitterness, favoritism, and mean-spiritedness outweighing the little love in the room. This is a short audiobook, and much of it is about other family members, including Mary's father, Freddy, who was ostracized after growing up in Donald's shadow. It shows that despite the family's great wealth, lack of love makes the Trumps poorer than most of us."
She has incredible insights, portrays everything in a professional, cool and intelligent way that explains soooo much and makes sense of the orange nightmare. Gotta read it!

Ich bewundere den Mut und die Prinzipien dieser Frau, trotz der Folgen, die es für sie haben könnte, dieses Enthüllungsbuch zu schreiben. Ihre berufliche Qualifikation und die Erlebnisse aus erster Hand machen ihren Blick auf den dysfunktionalen Charakter bzw. die Psyche des 45. US-Präsidenten so mehrschichtig, wie es nur geht. Schonungslos beschreibt sie Rechtsbrüche, Betrügereien und den Einfluss, den andere Familienmitglieder bei der Entstehung der Dysfunktionalität und Soziopathie Donald Trumps gehabt haben. Auch werden ihr Hadern und ihre eigenen Probleme deutlich. Sie versucht nicht zu verbergen, was sie zum Schreiben des Buches veranlasst hat und was sie beabsichtigt. „I have to take him down.“ ist nach der Wertung des Handelns ihres Onkels an der mexikanischen Grenze und während der COVID-19-Pandemie als „Massenmord“ die einzig logische Konsequenz. Nach vorsichtiger Annäherung zB an ihre Tante Maryanne in den letzten Jahren veröffentlicht sie hier deren Aussagen und um sie zu belegen legte sie letzte Woche 15h Gesprächsmitschnitte vor. Ihr ist klar, dass sie das Verhältnis somit unwiderruflich zerrüttet. Sie tut es dennoch, damit ihre Schilderung nicht einfach als „Lügen!“ abgetan werden können. Denn „Während stärkere Menschen ihn [Donald Trump] dahin gebracht haben, wo er ist, sind es schwächere Menschen als er, die ihn da halten.“
Eines ist klar: Mary L. Trump ist nicht schwach, sondern das vielleicht stärkste und moralisch integerste Mitglied ihrer Familie. Chapeau!

Any Trump supporter will recognize their hero and should as a consequence realize how they are getting fooled since so many years. I won't understand one wouldn't realize it every day, to be honest.
Let me recommend it to you, Trump fans...many episodes of typical him in it. Same behaviour and phrases you support since years.
As a non-citizen of the US it is still important to me understanding how such inhuman behaviour is possible and what we are dealing with. Propaganda made it happen, but what made him happen? ...I have no questions anymore.
Just an advice: don't have your country run by a sick, mean man.
