Über diesen Titel
Brought to you by Penguin.
This Penguin Classic is performed by acclaimed British actor Tim McInnerny, known for his many roles on stage and screen including in Notting Hill and Blackadder. This definitive edition includes an introduction by Matthew Sweet.
The Woman in White famously opens with Walter Hartright's eerie encounter on a moonlit London road. Engaged as a drawing master to the beautiful Laura Fairlie, Walter is drawn into the sinister intrigues of Sir Percival Glyde and his 'charming' friend Count Fosco, who has a taste for white mice, vanilla bonbons and poison. Pursuing questions of identity and insanity along the paths and corridors of English country houses and the madhouse, The Woman in White is the first and most influential of the Victorian genre that combined Gothic horror with psychological realism.

Now, to the reader, because I do not regret at all having bought this audiobook. Tim McInnerny makes a masterful play of characters out of this and truly comforts one to patiently listen to him. I have enjoyed his acting in "The Silkworm" episodes of Strike and liked his voice ever since. He also sound as I imagine Wilkie Collins' voice, so I found him particularly great to listen to.
It is a classic of English literature, masterfully read by Tim McInnerny. Consider your money well spent on this. I genuinely hope the man himself stumbles upon this review, for this audiobook seems to have been particularly unsucessfull regarding its sales.
Tim Mc Innerny is a master reader and I do not spend this term lightly!
