*THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER, NOW A NETFLIX FILM STARRING KEIRA KNIGHTLEY*

A PASSENGER IS MISSING...BUT WAS SHE EVER ON BOARD AT ALL?

This was meant to be the perfect trip. The Northern Lights. A luxury press launch on a boutique cruise ship.

A chance for travel journalist Lo Blacklock to recover from a traumatic break-in that has left her on the verge of collapse.

Except things don't go as planned.

Woken in the night by screams, Lo rushes to her window to see a body thrown overboard from the next door cabin. But the records show that no-one ever checked into that cabin, and no passengers are missing from the boat.

Exhausted and emotional, Lo has to face the fact that she may have made a mistake - either that, or she is now trapped on a boat with a murderer...

Kritikerstimmen

Agatha Christie meets The Girl on the Train in this stupendously good read… Scary and unsettling, it’s edge-of-your-seat stuff
A tense, moody drama set on a press trip that goes horribly wrong… Ware has produced a fantastic variation on the woman-in-peril theme, with a plucky protagonist and a brilliantly claustrophobic setting (Joan Smith)
A rollicking page-turner that reads like Agatha Christie got together with Paula Hawkins to crowdsource a really fun thriller
A fantastic read. A fog-enshrouded cruise ship, a twisty puzzle of a murder mystery reminiscent of Agatha Christie, and unrelenting suspense. Batten down the hatches and prepare to read it in one sitting! (Shari Lapena, author of The Couple Next Door)
The Woman in Cabin 10 is an edge-of-your-seat thriller full of great characters and twists (Reese Witherspoon)
[It] channels Agatha Christie’s murders at sea in a satisfying contemporary direction. (Mark Lawson)
Taut and provocative
This atmospheric thriller will have you gripped
Ware's virtues are gloriously old-fashioned: an ability to combine a sense of menace with the lightness of touch...and sharp prose.
I absolutely swallowed it whole; she takes that classic golden-age premise of a locked room and turns it into something completely right for the twenty-first century (Erin Kelly)

grear plot.
never boring and it just keeps you hanging throughout, specially the second part of the audiobook.. I've listened to three books from the same author ans narrator, will buy other titles ... just can't get enough.
I recommend it.

Empfehlenswert

Lengthy and not at all times logical story, but the excellent speaker I. Church compensates for some of these shortcomings.

Weak story, excellent speaker

One of the very few books I did not manage to finish. The protagonist was a whiny, self-absorbed, naive little moron, who got worked up about nearly everything, The narrator drove me insane. Her fake accents, her whingy voice gave me the creeps. The story - absolutely unbelievable. One of the worst audio books I ever tried to listen to. And believe me,I really tried.

Don't waste your time on this one

Sheesh. I really wanted to listen to this audiobook but the narrator drove me mad. An hour in and I had to quit. The character seems like a whiney cookie-cutter middle aged lush. Why the narrator wasn’t asked to make her performance sound like a human being, I’ll never know.

The narrator ruined this one...

this was perhaps the worst audio book I have listened to. the story was shallow, predictable, and lacking any real creativity. things are explained to the reader as if we were too dense to figure out even the most obvious of things. the characters engage in behavior that is downright dummy and questionable - and they sometimes do or say things simply as a way for the author to, once again, explain things to us that are already apparent.

The woman reading this is annoying: her fake voices, over-dramatisation, accents that are way off the mark... at some point you find yourself wishing and hoping that she would just tone it down. There is not a single person in real life who speaks the way she portrays it here.

Rubbish.

Absolutely not recommended

*The Woman in Cabin 10* by Ruth Ware left me with mixed feelings. The mystery is intriguing, but the main character, Lo, is hard to like.

Lo, a travel writer, is thrilled to be on a luxury cruise. Her excitement fades when she thinks she sees a woman being pushed overboard. The catch? No passengers are missing, and no one believes her. Determined, Lo decides to investigate on her own.

This setup promises a great thriller, but Lo's character is a letdown. She's always tired, often drunk, rarely eats, and comes off as unfriendly and defensive. It's hard to believe that someone so disorganized and anxious could solve a mystery.

Lo's flaws seem overdone and don't add much to the story. The mystery could have been just as good with a sharper protagonist.

Thankfully, the last third of the book improves. Lo finally starts thinking clearly, and the story picks up speed. The mystery becomes more engaging and wraps up nicely. It's a shame this momentum didn't carry through the entire book.

In short, *The Woman in Cabin 10* has a solid mystery but suffers from an annoying main character. The ending is satisfying, but getting there might be frustrating for some readers.

Its a stretch..
