Apart from the fact that the heroine is part Taiwanese, there is nothing special to the story. The dialogues are stilted, the characters remain unconvincing, the plot is practically nonexistent. The style of writing is almost childish, depicting a world full of superficial clichés. If you want to get to know Taiwanese culture, this is not the book to read.
