Probably the most interesting and distinguishing feature of the third of Idries Shah's editions/volumens of Nasrudin tales is the fact that many of the stories are set in our modern day and age, the 20th century, to be more precise. For example, one tale features Nasrudin as an airplane passenger and another has him confronted with the works of Pablo Picasso. This shift of settings actually works flawlessly, is refreshing and helps to underline the timelessness and universality of the Nasrudin lore.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about David Ault's style of narration here. His technique of voice shifting when switching into the role of a chraacter is noticeably less extreme than in the previous two audio volumes in the series. Since I personally liked the way Ault spoke as Mulla Nasrudin and brought his words to life, I somewhat missed this style in this volume, but my personal taste and preferences aside, the calmer and more "neutral" style of narration in this volume is probably more accessible and easier to listen to for most listeners.
