I really enjoyed listening to the book. took me some time to get into it, but then I really enjoyed how the whole story turned out.

Good fun and innovative

The book was fun but also repetitive. Once you figure out which settings and tropes occur in the story, you will notice that they are used over and over again. The subversion of the tropes is funny but it follows a clear pattern.

The book is definitely for adults and not for children. If it hadn’t been for the endless repetition of the sexist way that Alice and other women are viewed by the background characters, it could have been a four star book. Unfortunately, the endless repetition of that made it lose a star.

The narrator voices the characters in an amazing way. However, the parts of the book that are not dialogue feel somewhat flat.

Diese unkonventionelle Geschichte um Waldo und sein großes Abenteuer behauptet sich im Storytelling hervorragend gegen den ewigen Einheitsbrei der Magie mit Mittelalter-Theme. Auch wenn die Hauptcharaktere in ihren Gedankengängen an einigen Stellen naiv wirken, gefällt mir das Zusammenspiel und die daraus entstehenden Situationen sehr.

Ich kann nur empfehlen, sich darauf einzulassen. Es bringt Spaß :)

Der Sprecher leistet gute Arbeit, könnte aber an einigen Stellen die Situationskomik etwas besser rüberbringen. Ich habe die erste Hälfte des Buches gelesen bevor ich auf die Hörbuchvariante umgestiegen bin und fand manche Szenen beim Lesen teilweise witziger als nun beim Hören. Kann allerdings auch daran liegen, dass ich sie noch in Erinnerung hatte.
