In this prequel to Practical Magic, we meet the Aunts: sisters Frances and Jet, and Vincent, their brother. Wonderful story, loved it. A lot of loss, caught me at a time where I have experienced recent loss and so definitely conjured the waterworks 😄

The „rules of magic“ couldn‘t keep up with practical magic nor the brilliant prequel magic lessons. I am only so disappointed because these two previous books where so captivating in every word. It‘s not easy to relate to the family members in this book, they move around, talk and think without much introspection and personal development. They feel cold. The narrative dabbles without much excitement and progress. The time and literary space feel rigid. In style „rules of magic“ is written like magic lessons with tips for the readers and historical facts in between but without much connection to the family members here, nor feel for magic.
„Courage“ is the ingredient missing here.
This book feels like a cash grab and i wouldn‘t buy a hard copy of it.
