Dieses Buch beginnt nicht nur mit einem persönlichen Dank und Rückblick des Autors, sondern auch sehr ähnlich: Louis Wu und der Kzinti aus dem ersten Band werden von einem Puppeteer auf die Ringwelt entführt. Dort suchen sie .. und das erste Drittel des Buches ist wie der Vorgänger - irgendwie magisch.
Doch dann stellt sich heraus das die Ringwelt instabil und in Gefahr ist. Und damit schleicht sich bis zum Ende eine Art von Fatalismus in die Erzählung. Man spürt ihn durch den Handlungsfaden und in der Stimme des Erzählers. Und irgendwie geht ein bisschen von der Freude an dieser tollen Geschichte verloren.

I couldn't stay focused while listening to this reader. I liked the way he read and the impersonation too. But I listen to all my audio books in a car and some of them just seem to not fit. I think the book would be awesome listened to while sitting on a nice leather armchair.Good but probably better reading on your own

Dann kann man Lui Wu auf seinen Abenteuern auf der ringwelt begleiten.
Im Prolog erklärt D. Niven, dass er eigentlich keine Fortsetzung schreiben wollte, dass ihn die physikalischen Berechnungen der Fans zu einer Auseinandersetzung animiert haben.
Das Buch ist facettenreich und spannend, hat aber manchmal einige Längen.
Ich bin schon gespannt auf den nächsten Teil.
