Interessanter Blick in generationale Traumata

Dieses Buch kroch in mich hinein wie Wasser in einen Schwamm. In jede Pore, in jede Zelle. Dort bleibt es dann. Ich hab davon geträumt und es hat mich sogar nachts aufgeweckt. Wow, was für ein Debut Ashley Audrain!
Diese Geschichte ist eine Mischung aus herzzerreißendem Drama, kompromissloser und unnachgiebiger Sozialstudie und markerschütterndem Thriller. Und zwar nicht gleichzeitig, sonder immer abwechselnd. Ich habe mit Blyth geweint, vor Schreck aufgeschrien, hab mit ihr verhandelt, sie verdammt und in den Arm genommen.
Muss eine Mutter ihr Kind lieben? Was, wenn nicht ? Darf eine Mutter Antipathie gegenüber Ihrem Kind empfinden? Darf man darüber reden? Wer ist schuld, wenn Kinder Empathieprobleme entwickeln? Warum verlassen Mütter ihre Kinder ? Kann es sein, dass Babys ihre Mütter hassen? Wie weit hat Mutterliebe zu gehen? Kann sie ihren Gefühlen trauen? Kann ich meinen Gefühlen trauen? Redet sie sich Dinge ein? Rede ich mir Dinge ein? Ist sie paranoid? Werde ich verrückt?
Eine unsagbare Geschichte erzählt in einem einzigartigen Schreibstil: Gefühle werden gezeigt und nicht erklärt, was ein Kopfkino verursacht, wie ich es schon sehr lange nicht mehr erlebt habe. Jeder einzelne Protagonist ist dreidimensional und individuell gestaltet - mittendrin statt nur dabei. Hammer. Hoffentlich kann AA diese Latte halten, die sich da selber gelegt hat. Wär toll. I didn't find the book terribly suspenseful, but I enjoyed listening to it and was curious how it would end. (Speaking of endings - the very last sentence was a bit of a let-down for me, such a cheap plot device!)
The narrator is excellent and a very good fit for the first-person narrator.
