Über diesen Titel
Anna is the newest member of an elite ballet company. Her first class with her mysterious idol Victoria almost ruins her career before it starts. When she shows she might be a potential star, Victoria chooses Anna to launch a new season around.
Now Anna must face down jealousy, sabotage, and injury, not to mention navigate the circus of friends and lovers within the company. The pressure builds as she knows she must pour everything she has into opening night and prove to her rivals and herself that Victoria’s faith in her is not misplaced.
In the process, Anna discovers that she and the daring, beautiful Victoria have a lot more than a talent for ballet in common, and that not every thrilling dance can be found on stage.
©2018 Lola Keeley (P)2018 Ylva Publishing💡 The focus is on an elite ballet company and their dancers. The two main characters are Anna, who joins as a new member, and Victoria, a retired prima ballerina who now works as the company’s artistic director.
The characteristics of the two MCs are very different. Anna appears awkward and naïve at first, with little experience in the industry because of her age. Victoria, on the other hand, acts as an ice queen, seems unapproachable and follows strict discipline. But over time you see a different side of the two as they show their true selves' step by step.
As the story unfolds, both realize that they need each other for the success of the company. And during this journey, you get to know the depths of ballet, its beauty as well as its lows. The book confronts you with jealousy, injuries and betrayal, but also with painful pasts. All of this stuff gives you a sense of how much these dancers sacrifice for their success.
But while you see all this dramatic stuff, there’s chemistry growing between Anna and Victoria, who both grow fond of each other. The build-up is slow, but it fits perfectly not only for the characters but also for the story itself. And gladly, they both get a happy end that just makes sense. The writing and the presentation of ballet feel really realistic and incredible. It was like being part of the ballet company.
♥️ I fell in love with the story as well as the characters. I recommend this book to everyone.
Got one of my faves
