I used this audiobook just to improve my english skills.
But doing so I began to realy love the story.
Although I am grown up I really enjoyed the exciting and authentic adventures of the young knight Tiuri.
The speaker is also completely perfect.
His voice is very pleasant and he gives every character a specific tone that you can recognize easily.
But nevertheless each character sounds situable and not exaggerated.
Thank you so much for this marvellous audiobook!

The journey of Tiuri the squire is one of my fondest memories from my youth. The audiobook truly captures the magic of a young man following the path honor has brought him onto. Even more special this is the kind of story that stands up to scrutiny years after, and I can only recommend you to listen to this book.

If you came here from the Netflix series be prepared to truly enjoy and find out what Tonke Dragt actually intended and also to be amazed and excited and frightened and in love with one of the best low fantasy stories I know.

Geschichte ist super und ein tolles Jugendbuch.

Ich habe bereits das Buch zu diesem Hörspiel schon mehrere male durch gelesen. Die Geschichte ist echt spannende und durch die gute Intonation des Sprechers ist es eine Freude das Hörspiel bis zum Ende anzuhören.

One of my favorite stories since I was a boy...

"Der Brief für den König" ist ein wundervoller Klassiker und bereichert durch viele schöne Elemente in der Geschichte: die Charaktere sind interessant und nicht schwarz-weiß gemalt, die Protagonisten durchlaufen eine Entwicklung, ein Fokus liegt auf Moralität und Ehre, die Helden setzen auf Klugheit, Kommunikation und Milde statt auf Draufhauen und Töten, ein spannender Handlungsverlauf der in den Bann zieht (auch noch für jemanden, der das Buch zig mal gelesen hat, aber besonders natürlich für Kinder/Jugendliche), keine vorhersehbare Handlung ...

Endlich wurde nun also dieses wundervolle Buch in eine Hörfassung verwandelt, die man bei audible bekommen kann (warum noch keine deutsche Fassung???!).

Der Sprecher hat meinem Empfinden nach sehr gute Arbeit geleistet - durch eine angenehme Sprechstimme, Betonung und Sprachmelodie. Matt Addis hat es geschafft, durch Variation in der Stimme/Dialekte die Charaktere gut voneinander abzugrenzen und die jeweilige Stimmung wiederzugeben.

Ich würde diese Hörbuchfassung weiterempfehlen und warte ungeduldig auf die Hörbuchfassung von "Der Wilde Wald" / "The secret of the wild wood"!

In my opinion the narrator did a very good job - Matt Addis has a very pleasant voice, intonation and pronunciation. He varies his voice or dialects to simulate different characters and atmospheres.

I would recommend the audiobook version of the book - and I am waiting impatiently for the audiobook of Tiuri's next adventure: "The secret of the wild wood"

Tiuri‘s adventures, after running away from the chapel in the night before being knighted by the king, are still one of my preferred books - 40 years after I have read them for the first time. Find out for yourself - tales of knights and squires, honour and betrayal, fights and intrigues, friendship and happiness.

A great narrator makes this audiobook a particularly exciting experience!

Eine wundervolle und spannende Geschichte über Gut und Böse, Freundschaft und andere Werte. Ich habe das Buch schon als Kind gelesen u d quasi verschlungen - und dieses Hörbuch ist ebenso großartig! Ein toller Sprecher… mehr davon!!

I watched the Netflix series the other day, and I enjoyed it. I went in search of the book, and found to my delight, that it is available as audiobook.
I didn't really expect the film to be exactly like the book, but I didn't expect it to be a completely different story. The film isn't even based on the book -- they only took the title and a few names, and wrote a whole new story for the series. However, I don't mind for once. I loved the book just as much as I loved the series. Matt Addis did a great job with the narration, and I have just bought the sequel now. Mind you, this is young adult stuff, so I guess not every adult will enjoy it, as the story is fairly simple (e.g. the villains always look ugly, and the knights and noblemen look wise and handsome, etc,) but I loved it nevertheless.
