The story

Aided by the bound spirits of those he lost, Cado follows a path of revenge, hunting the servants of Chaos to slake his need for blood while seeking the Sorcerer of Change who destroyed his kingdom. When his hunt leads him to the free city of Aventhis, Cado becomes caught up in the machinations of greater powers—beings who see the city and its people as dust in the eyes of ambitious gods. Torn between his code of honour and his desire for vengeance, Cado must navigate a web of war and deceit, or lose everything.

For some voices the speaker used kind of a screaming voice and those voices were always a little louder then all the others. I was driving with me girlfriend next to me and those voices always woke her up so that was kind of an issue to me. Other then that I enjoyed it a lot even though the dialogues were a little flat here and there. It’s definitely worth hearing

It's what it looks like. A fantasy batman with a tragic past is getting involved in some conspiracys. If that deosn't appeal to you then i am sorry for you.

A story I had to get into at the start, but then was easier to listen to in the end. The hollow king is an interesting character and I am happy having learned more about him.

Great reading of a fantastic book, The hollow king takes you on a roller coaster of a Journey through battles and the struggles of a vampires hunger and sets up some awesome characters. I cant wait to read/hear the next book.

The ultimate anti hero

Think of all the edgy antihero tropes you can imagine. Cado is all of them. This book leans so much into the edge it becomes weirdly charming again. Some batman esque monologues got so extreme I couldnt help but smile.

Richard Reed is a great narrator and really helps to elevate the mood.

The story is solid for the most part, however it stumbles pretty hard during the finale with a few characters making baffling nonsensical decisions to keep the plot going.

All in all I still had fun and theres definitely an audience for this kind of edgelord protagonist. If youre a fan of Warhammer and/or Batman then youre probably gonna enjoy your time.
