Über diesen Titel

Since its release in 1949, The Hero with a Thousand Faces has influenced millions of readers by combining the insights of modern psychology with Joseph Campbell's revolutionary understanding of comparative mythology. In this book, Campbell outlines the Hero's Journey, a universal motif of adventure and transformation that runs through virtually all of the world's mythic traditions. He also explores the Cosmogonic Cycle, the mythic pattern of world creation and destruction.

As relevant today as when it was first published, The Hero with a Thousand Faces continues to find new audiences in fields ranging from religion and anthropology to literature and film studies. The book has also profoundly influenced creative artists - including authors, songwriters, game designers, and filmmakers - and continues to inspire all those interested in the inherent human need to tell stories.

Kritikerstimmen

"Arthur Morey, John Lee, and Susan Denaker are an adept and experienced performance team. The way they trade voices adds texture to the complex compendium of stories." ( AudioFile)

Very good book, but the narration is a disaster. There are no breaks between sentences, which overlaps the "old English" and makes the contents indigestible. Will buy a print version instead.

Great book, bad narrator

The performance from the three narrators is perfect in my opinion. The book is of great significance to the field but Sir James Frazers narration is much more percise and clear. Mr. Campbell sometimes write in a too grandiose manner and loses the reader, or the reader has to go over his thoughts a few times. That is why I reduced the one star, but overall a great read and worth your while...

Great narration, a vast scope of knowledge about myth, writing and the human persona. Difficult to get through because it's a lot to take in. Perfect in audio form, the book would take ages to read.

Sublime

it is Jospeh Campbell. it is an amazing book. the performance is awful with one fella using an over played classical english voice. the change in tempo, the over pronunciation, the change in volume and the singing vowels were grating. highly annoying and couldnt finish. a real shame as i have read the book a number of times and love it.

pompous voice actor ruins an incredible book
