When Ella is mysteriously attacked on her way home from a party, her entire life changes as she finds herself at the center of an attempted murder investigation.

Ella tries to move on, but her attacker isn't done yet. He shows himself in the form of horrifying signs and symbols: a clown mask strewn on her bed, a dead bird in her backpack, a shadow moving past her window in the night. And as the weeks pass, it turns out that Ella isn't the only one being tormented.

With the help of an old flame, Jensen Carver, and her friends and family, Ella tries to attain some sense of normalcy, but she can't seem to shake the feeling that there's a dark pattern hidden in the killer's every move. Suddenly, even those in her innermost circle seem suspicious. In her seemingly safe West Virginia town, Ella starts to wonder who she can trust

i wasn't aware that Jennifer wrote Thrillers too, so I was very surprised und unsure what to expect, hut oh boy what a book!!!

it had me hooked from the beginning and left me anxious to continue in the story the entire time.

The plot twists were amazing and I was constantly thinking about who it was and swapping suspects, but the ending had me gasping out loud! fantastic!!

Really looking forward to more thrillers from Jennifer

What a great and unexpected book!

3.5
Tw: suicide, murder, mention of torture, kidnapping, mental illness

I did not expect this kind of book from Jennifer. No clue why, but somehow a YA mystery thriller was just not what I saw her writing, but she sure did a good job.
You keep suspecting different people at all times, never really knowing anything substantial.
I did enjoy the love story, cause it wasn’t one that just suddenly started up when shit went down. It had a history and was something that made sense to happen this way.
The reveals at the end, did confirm some of my very early suspicions, but I can’t claim to have just suspected this. One thing I did know and it hurt my heart so much, that I was correct in it.
I also didn’t think that Ella being at the kinda center of this all was exaggerated or unlikely. Everything felt pretty natural for a thriller and I really appreciate that.

No time to catch your breath

I love Amy Landon, she is one of the best narrators out there. She has a great tempo and pronunciation, does raspy, shaky etc. voices and not to forget believable male voices. I'd love her to record some of the books that are told by two people, instead of having a male and a female narrator.

The book itself was a nice thriller/horror story. It recognises the similarities with a certain horror movie with a masked killer, and to be fair every story has already been told before in some way or another. The killer wasn't who I suspected it to be and some coincidences aren't explained. At some points you groan at the characters when they do something obviously stupid and it's like when you yell at the TV during a horror flick. Overall a solid mystery with many suspects and motives.

Great
