It is a fool's errand, and Tallos knows it, but against his own better judgment and the pleading of his wife, Tallos has committed himself to a voyage north. Am relevantesten
The female characters were pretty much stereotype (large breasts, raped repeatedly...). The male characters were more interesting, albeit in a way so disgusting that there is noone you'd like to cheer on.
Nevertheless, this book will keep you trapped until it comes to an abrupt halt. And it will leave you wanting more, at least if you're a masochist.
Is this book appealing to our hidden desires? Let's pray, it is not...

The narrator does bis job very well. It is hard to distinguish between very similar characters, but theese almost never starr in the same chapter anyhow...

not flawless, but worth listening to

Nicely written, but so few things happen. And despite the foreword warning of the many different perspectives, the way they are presented leads to unnecessary confusion ("many years ago" should not mean "five or ten years ago")
Narration often didn't fit the circumstances, the narrator speaking dialog calmly, then adding "he screamed", for example.

Book came highly recommended, but was mostly boring until the "end" - which is just a setup for whatever follows. The whole book is just for setting things up, but I don't think I will have the interest to see what that might be.
