I loved 'the Lido' so I was excited about this book. However I finished the story with mixed feelings. When listening to this audiobook, I kept switching between liking the plot and the characters and on the other hand the story seemed to drag on several times and this made me loose interest. The athmosphere is rather melancholic and static - I couldn't quite decide if this was only caused by the story (it takes place over about 24h in one café and is mostly told from the perspective of the two main characters, who are coping with the changes in their lives and in their friendship) or if the reader contributed to this lack of excitement/emotion.
The book deals with life decisions/changes and how different people deal with the challenges they meet. The ending made up for many of the aspects that bothered me in the middle, so the rating is three stars (medium). Don't expect lots of laughter.
