This is absolutely one of the best books ever. It is a decent thriller plot with al lot of action and moving around the planet. 'Moving' in a travelling sense and in an ecologic sense. The topic of global warming is well discussed (I did not say completely) and listeners having at least a rough idea of science will for more than once find a smile on their face. Being narrated in English it might be difficult for the average English skilled, but you do not have to be a native speaker either. Don't make the mistake and stop after the first hour, it switches on purpose in between scenes and will become an easy to follow story thereafter. Viel Spass

Absolutely fascinating story. More relevant than ever. Mr Chrichton taps into unpopular truths and seems to have been punished for it. I believe every one of his books have been filmed till this one. His authors view and appendix show how true thoughtfulness and critical thinking is done and lays bare propaganda.. beware of those only interested in solving a problem before wanting to understand it.

Ich konnte mit Crichton noch nie furchtbar viel anfangen, war aber neugierig! Leider als Hörbuch nicht so tauglich, man kommt permanent mit den Charakteren der Handlung durcheinander und wirklich fesselnd ist die Handlung nicht gerade! Gut sind die Themenfelder Umwelt, Medien, Technik und Recht, die mal für Abwechslung sorgen!!!

Crichton stellt die Argumente zum "Global Warming" ohne dogmatisch zu wirken in einem gewohnt spannenden Rahmen neu zusammen - bis zum Ende ausgesprochen spannend, wennauch etwas monoton gelesen

I found the book interesting, provocative with the give and take regarding positions, opinions, and research on environmental issues, the media, industry, on so on but almost entirely disappointing as a novel or suspense thriller.

It felt like the plot was inserted so that the author could articulate his thoughts about the environmental movement, its detractors and the use of the media in a format that the average reader might attract. How many people would read a serious non-fiction discussion of these issues even with the Crichton name attached? Most of the 'suspense' was telegraphed, the story was simply a chase from one outlandish situation to another, and the characters were more archetypes than real people.

Overall, the book was interesting because of the issues raised, but very disappointing as a novel or suspense thriller.
