Although a bit generic, the story somehow manages to keep you in suspense, making you want to keep listening.

The slightly archetypal characters are fairly relatable in their struggle for identity, bearing mind that the story begins in the 80s and expands over the course of about 20 years.
I quite liked the trope of two lovers forever bound by fate that runs as a major thread throughout the story.

With the enjoyable/positive bits out of the way, this is where the wheels come off the story’s wagon: the ending… rarely have I seen an author f**k up an ending in quite a spectacular fashion. This was by far the most far-fetched, most disgraceful display of “I need to make the story come full circle” that I’ve come across in … well forever really.
Pity…

Eine wirklich schön erzählte, komplexe und vielseitige Liebesgeschichte. Für alle schwer zu empfehlen, aber man muss darauf gefasst sein etwa drei Tage lang nichts anderes mehr tun zu wollen als weiter zu hören.

Ziemlich schlecht geschriebene, meistens langweilige Lovestory. Der Schreibstil ist eher eine Aufzählung von Ereignissen, Handlungen, Gefühlen: der Hörer darf und könnte sich auch kein eigenes Bild der Emotionen der eindimensionalen Protagonisten machen, weil alles erklärt wird : " Telling, not showing". Dadurch kann kein Kopfkino entstehen.
Das Buch bedient alle Klischees eines Liebesdramas wie Love against all odds, Trennung, Verrat, Treue, Verlust, was eigentlich eine tolle Sache ist. Leider ist es in diesem Buch extrem schlecht umgesetzt. Am Ende der Geschichte hab ich nur mit den Augen gerollt, war stolz durchgehalten zu haben und war erleichtert, dass es vorbei war.

Tim is the worst, but oh he is so cute so let's root for him. No!!! Toxic and manipulative.
The story is full of cliches.

- the entire story NOT one person tells Ben how bad Tim is, esp, in the beginning
- Stalking is romantizised
- abusive relationship
- forcing someone out of the closet
- I don't care for the blackcent!!!!! Totally unneccessary
- the sister is a Karen ???? Really ???
- every female is terrible - except black straight friend trope
- Also the story and description is waaay to sexual for them to be in Highschool, hello?! Describing a 16 y/o dick in detail??? Gross, wtf

All in all, there are way better, funnier, cooler and sexier, more positive stories (mlm or wlw) out on audible. This one is not it.
- DO NOT GIFT PEOPLE WITH DOGS !!!!!!!!!
