Es ist ein wunderschön geschriebenes Buch der leisen Töne. Eine Liebeserklärung an die Liebe in all seinen Formen und an das ursprüngliche Leben im Mittleren Westen der USA.

I’ve been listening to audible for a few years now, probably one broadcast a week since I travel a lot. Scott Shepard is one of my favorites, playing his voice like a piano.
Shotgun Lovesongs is a story about nothing, no tension built, no highs nor lows. But it is beautifully written, well narrated. Surely amongst the top ten of my favorites. The characters are carefully drawn out, believably introduced. I never wanted a chapter to end, did not expect a particular ending. It was truly enjoyable to listen to. Thank you Mr. Butler.

Hatte zuvor "Der Distelfink" gelesen, bei dem ich über eine Stunde brauchte, um "reinzukommen". Bei dieser Geschichte ist man vom allerersten Moment an "drin"! Ereignisse werden aus verschiedenen Perspektiven geschildert, daher die verschiedenen Sprecher. Maggie Hoffmanns Art zu Sprechen hat mich manchmal genervt, aber die anderen waren sehr gut. Leute, für die ein Buch unbedingt spannend sein muss, sollte die Finger von diesem Buch lassen. Es plätschert manchmal einfach so dahin, ist aber nie langatmig oder ermüdend. Die Charaktere sind lebensnah und gut beschrieben, die Geschichte ist durchweg realistisch. Ich habe das Hörbuch sehr genossen. Meinetwegen hätte es noch Stunden so weitergehen können. Am Ende ist es schade, dass man die Menschen in diesem Buch wieder verlassen muss.
