Im Vergleich zu een Vorgängern bleibt ein gewisser Hang zur Länge - 30% weniger hätten auch funktioniert, vielleicht sogar 50% - aber die Prämisse und Umsetzung waren gut und unterhaltsam.

The Story does Not benefit the Series

I listened to this Book because I Liked the Overall Story of the indominus crusade but I was deeply disappointed. This Audiobook is More like a warhammer horror Filler episode and Adds nothing to the Story Progression…

But it’s Nevertheless well written and Spoken as Allways and in itself a Good one but don’t Expect any Progress for the Overall Events

more like a horror story

Only the very beginnimg and the very end further the plot of the series. The rest just feels like a bad nightmare, where you know you are dreaming but still can't escape. A lot of warp corruption and misdirection. But I guess you can tell from around the middle point where the story is going. The story is told well. The narrator does a good job. I just... didn't like the story itself that much.

Mäßig. Nicht wirklich beeindruckend.

Leider irgendwie gänzlich überflüssig. Nicht wirklich sehr spannend. Evtl eine Übergangs Geschichte für weitere Bücher.

Decent horror story but nothing more

Its a decent 40k horror story but has very little to do with the Dawn of Fire series. Nothing gets added to the narrative as a whole and the story probably wont have any future impact or add something important, except maybe the last 5 minutes and that felt like an after thought after finishing everything else. Overall pretty disappionting.

If you don't love playing Chaos, skip this one...

On the one hand I am at a loss to understand why you would pad out a low-concept horror short to the length of a novel, and on the other I can understand even less why you would declare it to be part of the Dawn of Fire series.

The characters are one-dimensional and formulaic, with every trait that gets developed in any way either going nowhere or being completely inconsequential until the character is inevitably sent off in some insultingly meaningless way.

I even struggled and strained to extrapolate how the plot of this book could in some way, in any way feed into the larger narrative, but the characters are unremarkable, the events not worth mentioning in the 40k universe, the ship is irrelevant, and even the chaos entities are unnamed and without any of the defining traits of the noteworthy demons are cardinal gods.

The last third of the story I felt like sticking with the story either out of spite or to see if there'd be some kind of incredible plot twist to subvert the obvious trajectory.

Out of well over a hundred novels and audio productions, I can't remember being both this disappointed and offended by a Black Library production.

But the narrator did a fantastic job and the writing was consistent and clear. Sadly both didn't manage to tell a story worth hearing.

Hard pass and rare swing and a miss from Black Library.
