Durch Zufall hatte ich das Buch bei Audible entdeckt und auf dem Merkzettel gesichert. Als ich gesehen habe, dass alle drei Bücher in kurzem Abstand veröffentlicht wurden und die Trilogie in einem zu lesen/ zu hören ist, habe ich zugegriffen und muss sagen: Fantastischer Erzähler (einfach tolle Stimme), trockener und wirklich guter Stil der Erzählung und genügend Plotttwists und Wendungen, um dem eigentlich lebens-müden Leichenfledderer Corax immer wieder seinen Wunsch zu verwehren und ihn in das nächste Abenteuer zu stürzen.

Das ist mein erstes Buch von Tom Holt (=K.J. Parker) und ich gönn mir jetzt direkt das nächste und werde wohl auch noch in seine anderen Geschichten reinhören, wenn ich soweit bin. Oder auch mal schauen, was der Sprecher noch veröffentlicht hat, da finden sich bestimmt noch ein paar Perlen. Bin richtig begeistert, gerade weil es echt schwierig ist, so gute Bücher zu finden. (Oder die Wartezeiten auf den nächsten Teil unendlich lange erscheinen...)

The narrator really brings Saevus to life. A perfect fit.
The story... I'd rather not spoil anything, just listen to it. It's hilarious, full of surprises, dirty bastards, cutthroats, fools, heroes, thiefs, tricksters poets and more. Sometimes those are even different people.

An absolute gem

It starts slow and then sucks you into a plausible retelling of an unreliable narrator. Even as I know how full of BS Saveus Corax is, I'd still buy him another drink to listen to him for another half an hour. I am only now considering the brilliant voice talent, who captured my attention without me noticing. Making it look easy is true mastery, in writing, voicing and life.
