Ready Player Two is in my opinion a great sequel story of Ready Player One and worth the time of anyone who already liked the first book.
Also great to listen to while jogging/working out and/or on the bus/train/etc.

A great experience

Nach 2/3 des Buches habe ich noch gesagt, dass es für eine Fortsetzung ganz ok ist. Am Ende ist es eine wirklich gelungene Fortsetzung geworden - die im mittleren Teil ihre Längen hat und sicher von einer aktuellen HBO Serie inspiriert ist. Chapeau an den Autor und Wil Wheaton liest es natürlich auch fantastisch.

It feels forced, I didn't get the easy and playful vibes, the joy of exploring the worlds and settings in the oasis and the outside world that i got from the first book.

Where the first one felt like an open world that you are exploring together with wade and his friends, this one is more like a straight tunnel that you stumble through, paying too much attention to the paint on the wall instead of the actual road you are taking (which is just straight ahead anyways)

The ending / epilogue is also quite drawn out and endless, so non-american users, be aware, you can skip most of the monologue at the end, it is just regurgitating the same idea for half an hour.

Leider ist der Sprecher extrem unfähig die Emotionen darzustellen und hört sich die komplette Zeit an als würde er ne Trauerrede halten. Davon abgesehen ist es schwer zu verstehen wann er 'Z' oder 'sie' sagt, da er beides 'sie' ausspricht (was nur im englischen sinn ergibt um mit 'that' Nicht verwechselt zu werden) anstatt, wie Martin Bross es richtigerweise machte 'sɛt'. Seine stimmvielfalt ist ebenfalls recht beschränkt und er spricht einige Worte komplett falsch aus, was ich sehr störend empfinde. Sehr enttäuschend nur der populären synchronstimme wegen diesen Sprecher zu wählen.

Zum Buch selbst noch eine kurze Aussage:
Es ist kaum zu fassen, das diese Fortsetzung derart gut gelungen ist. Ich habe am Schluss des ersten Buches gedacht. Dass es keine vernünftige Fortsetzung geben könnte. Aber da wurde ich eines besseren belehrt.

Fazit: Mit Martin Bross oder einem anderen vernünftigen Sprecher wäre es locker 5 Sterne Wert.
Ich habe mir im Anschluss das englische hörbuch angehört und das ist um einiges besser synchronisiert.

Tatsächlich mal ein Sequel, das mit dem ersten Teil mithalten kann, komplett neue Räume öffnet und genau so viel Spaß macht wie der erste Teil... nur der Prince-Teil war mir ein bisschen zu lang... ;)

Es übertrifft sogar RP1

Mir gefällt auch der 2. Teil des Buches, aber Teil 1 bleibt mein Favorit.
1 stern Abzug durch die lange Einleitung mit den doch enormen Zeitsprüngen. Und der Rest, Bzw der wichtigste Teil, des Buches spielt sich dann in wenigen Stunden ab.

Teil 2 ist **mMn** nichts für diejenigen die es nicht mögen wenn man sich auf, manchmal, doch viel unnötiges stark konzentriert wird.

I enjoyed Ready player two and love the ending. I would recommend the book, but it is different from ready player one. I would recommend the book if you liked Armada by Ernest Cline or Axiom's End by Lindsay Ellis.

Good but not for everyone

Entertaining follow up with some weak points in plot and detail. Easier to enjoy the less one knows about neurobiology. 😀

Passable sequel

The first three hours or so are quite boring, nothing really happens. After that it gets better, although it has a lengthy passage near the third quarter. Dozens of irrelevant details are meticulously described with painstaking accuracy. However, I managed to listen to the end and it also had exciting and sometimes even intriguing episodes.

I was hesitant to download part two because I enjoyed part 1 tremendously and didn’t want to ruin that experience with a crap sequel. Which it is according to some reviews. However, I found part 2 to be very enjoyable although nothing groundbreakingly new gets introduced.

Worthy sequel!
