Über diesen Titel

Polgara is the epic culmination of a magnificent saga, and a fitting farewell to a world which, once experienced, will never be forgotten.

She soars above a world of warriors, kings, and priests. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for three thousand years. Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles.

Her hair streaked white by her father's first touch, her mind guided by a mother she will not see again for centuries, Polgara begins life in her Uncle Beldin's tower, and in the prehistorical, magical Tree that stands in the middle of the Vale. There, she first learns the reaches of her powers. There she assumes the bird shapes that will serve her on her adventures. And there she starts on the path toward her destiny as Duchess of Erat, shepherdess of the cause of good, adversary of Torak the One-Eyed Dragon God, and guardian of the world's last, best hope: the heir to the Rivan throne.

Here is the legendary life story of a woman of wit, passion, and complex emotions, a woman born of two majestic parents who could not have been more unlike one another. Ordained to make peace and make war, to gain love and lose love, Polgara lives out her family's rich prophecy in the ceaseless struggle between the Light and the Dark.

das große Eddings Finale seiner Reihe

Halten Sie die Hörbuch-Ausgabe von Polgara the Sorceress für besser als das Buch?

The book is the story of an extraordinary woman, told by that woman as she is asked by her mother Poledra to write her story down for her great-grand children to read. The fact that the Audiobook is told by a woman who has a perfect voice for Polgara makes this very special. You really feel like Polgara is telling you her story personally!

Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?

This is an Audiobook for every woman who is even remotely into Fantasy. It's mostly written by a woman (Leigh Eddings touch is strong in this one), about a woman, for women and told by a woman.

Wonderful Audiobook in every respect

The Eddingses tie most loose ends and then some, sprinkled with the usual humor and depth of characters.

Some tiny points start to creep up with their writing/character style and some , but nothing an eddings fan should shun.

Grand Finale

David Edding‘s stories are always a little on the light side, but I always enjoyed them (although I like the Elenium better). Recently I decided to reminisce by listening to the audio books of some „classics“, and finally got around to „Polgara“, which I never got around to reading. So this is an audio book, where I never read the actual book beforehand.

Basically, I like the way Dina Pearlman read the book, and I support using a female narrator this time. However, having listened to all books in quick succession, there is one thing that really irritates me and that could have easily be done differently:

The pronounciation of the names is in parts completely different from all the other books, starting with putting the emphasis on different syllables for the main characters up to vastly different sounding names (Ctuchik, or certain cities).

I understand that the pronounciation is always up to debate, but please publishers, provide your later speakers at least with some samples of how the names were spoken in previous audio books!

Well told, but the changed pronounciation is irritating

After listening to Cameron Beierle throughout the other stories I wanted to correct the speaker on every name's pronunciation. I think it's a shame to not pay attention to what listeners have heard before. It irritated me a great Deal although I really live the books.

Different reading style than before
