What You’ll Learn
This course includes Lessons 6-10 from the Norwegian Level 1 program featuring 2.5 hours of language instruction. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons is included in each lesson. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak Norwegian.

if you choose one of their beginner courses, it starts with simple conversations presented by native speakers. they repeat all the words slowly and the narrator lets you know of any details you have to pay extra attention to (absolutely useful especially for languages like Thai). besides the narrator there are always 2 native speakers a man and a woman that are having a conversation, so you can hear slightly different pronunciations. you take part in their conversations. the pauses in the dialogues are long enough for you to review and then repeat what they have said or answer their questions. I love that the narrator also asks lots of questions that you have to answer. ex “how would you now say…?” and you have to use the words that you just learned but in a different sentence and not just repeat what the 2 native speakers have said before. it makes you reflect and think and everything you learn just sticks. in every lesson things from previous lessons get repeated. you also have to apply the previously learned in new situations.
each lesson is about 30 minutes. you are supposed to finish just one lesson and continue with the next lesson the next day. which worked out well for me! no need to do any lesson twice.
so far I have now successfully mastered their Thai, Indonesian and Norwegian lessons for beginners. and I can actually already have small conversations with colleagues and they all complimented me on my pronunciation!
for the Spanish I started with a Pimsleur course with lessons for more advanced speakers and this also is the best I ever had.
the English narrator for all these courses is the same man. he’s doing a great job, has a warm voice and I hope they will never use another narrator for these courses!
