Über diesen Titel
It isn't often you receive a letter from the dead.
When Vianne Rocher receives a letter from beyond the grave, she has no choice but to follow the wind that blows her back to Lansquenet, the village in south-west France where, eight years ago, she opened up a chocolate shop.
But Vianne is completely unprepared for what she finds there. Women veiled in black, the scent of spices and peppermint tea, and there, on the bank of the river Tannes, facing the square little tower of the church of Saint-Jerôme like a piece on a chessboard - slender, bone-white and crowned with a silver crescent moon - a minaret.
Nor is it only the incomers from North Africa that have brought big changes to the community. Father Reynaud, Vianne's erstwhile adversary, is now disgraced and under threat. Could it be that Vianne is the only one who can save him?

Vianne, you've lost your magic

This ist the third volume of the Vianne Rocher series, and I love it as much as the first two - but I would have preferred a different reading voice.
The first book - Chocolat - was read by Joanne Harris herself - an absolute treat! :-)
The second one - The Lollipop Shoes - was read by Juliet Stevenson, who does an equally good job, but it takes some getting used to hearing Vianne speak with a different voice.
This third book takes even more getting used to, because the voice of Rula Lenska is so very different from Harris's, and, in my opinion, is just not right for a young woman. I find it very difficult to imagine Vianne Rocher when listening to that voice.
On the other hand, I like the idea of having Curé Reynaud's passages read by a male voice - Gareth Armstrong's.
Still, a shame that Joanne Harris couldn't have read all the three books. That would have been perfect.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed listening to this book and will certainly do so again.
Great book! Reading voice not ideal
