Inhaltsangabe
Cameron wants to make one thing clear: He didn't come into the festival to find a dragon mate.
Germany is supposed to be an escape. With a new mechanical engineering degree, a new job looming, and a whole life planned out that isn’t his, Germany seems like the best place for Cameron find himself. So how does he end up discovering his lost magic heritage, running from bad guys with a secret agenda, and being adopted by the not-so-extinct Fire Dragon clan?
He blames tall, dark, and sexy Alric, king of the Fire Dragons: his fated mate. Because of course he is, and mates are meant to take the blame, right? It may take a hot second, but as Cameron learns more about the scarred Alric and the life he’s landed in, he realizes that perhaps this is where he’s meant to be - magic, mates, kidnapping, and all.
Turns out Germany isn't an escape...it's his awakening.

Narration totally ruins story
I absolutely love this story for it's characters and the whole world building. while it certainly has it's flaws, it has become one of my comfort reads. however, I absolutely LOATHE the narrator for what he did to it. not only is he apparently unable to do a little bit of research as to how the words in the foreign language (mainly German in this first book) are pronounced (this wasn't a case of not quite getting it right. it was straight up mangling it to the point I, as a German speaker who deals with a lot of dialects in my job, couldn't understand many of the words at ALL), he also is unable to do female voices and tries to compensate by giving them strange intonations. it's especially bad with the grandmother, who sounds like someone who barely understands English when everything in the story implies that she is someone born and raised in America. the way it is done is respectless to the point of insulting and I had to skip some parts with her because I couldn't listen to it. I really love audiobooks because it gives me a chance to do stuff while listening to my favorite books, but this narration might have ruined this book for me. I am aware narrators are expensive and not every author can afford good ones, but if it was me I'm the shoes of the authors? I would demand my money back for this disaster.

Sweet story
All in all I liked the book, but as a native German I was shuddering 😅 the pronunciation was way off mostly.
Apart from that Joel Leslie did a fantastic job 😃
