The battle against the Lankies has been won. Earth seems safe. Peacetime military? Not on your life.

The future for Major Andrew Grayson of the Commonwealth Defense Corps and his wife, Halley? Flying desk duty on the front. No more nightmares of monstrous things. No more traumas to the mind and body. But when an offer comes down from above, Andrew has to make a choice: continue pushing papers into retirement, or jump right back into the fight? The remaining Lankies may have retreated in fear, but the threat isn’t over. They need to be wiped out for good before they strike again. That’ll take a new offensive deployment. Aboard an Avenger warship, Andrew and the special tactics team under his command embark on the ultimate search-and-destroy mission. This time, it’ll be on Lanky turf.
No big heroics. No unnecessary risks. Just a swift hit-and-run raid in the hostile Capella system. Blow the alien seed ships into oblivion and get the hell back to Earth. At least, that’s the objective. But when does anything in war go according to plan?

What's with the new Narrator and the ultra bad sound quality?
Really missing luke daniels, but why the hell is the quality of this audio book so disappointing? It's like hearing through a tin can.

Worst Book of the series so far
You basically wait 7 of 8 hours for something to happen, to then end on a cliffhanger

Interlude to Book 8
Starting with the positive, Eric Dove is close enough to Luke Daniels, which was a concern.
Otherwise it is the weakest of all the books with A LOT of dialog and hardly any story progression. It does make you want to read Book 8, though. So hurry up Marko Kloos :-).

great story brutally let down by a change of narrator
There is no excuse to change the narrator of an established series for the last book. period. It destroys immersion, and rips a large piece of the possible enjoyment from the book.

Were the hearing aid's off?
Mr Dove doesnt fit in this universe and i am not saing that he is a bad reader. Then the hearing aid's of the audio techs were they turned off or defective, because the audio is not nice.
I know, i know covid made everything more complicated, but then they should have released it later with better audio. There are others audibles from mr dove with far better audio quality. There's an other audible with mr dove that i want to check out.

Why???
I'm a huge fan of the Frontlines series. But somehow I'm a bit disappointed about Book 7.
First of all it is always a real bummer when suddenldy the speaker gets changed. Don't understand me wrong, Eric Dove does a good job, but I was so used to Luke Daniels. The first 30 min of the audiobook were a struggle. Every 5 seconds I asked myself : why? why do you change the speaker? Why? After those first 30min I got used to Eric Dove and got along with it.
Second, the story is slow and a lot blablabla... I don't mind background stories and the whereabouts of other person of the story. I even like this. But you wait 7 hrs before finally something with actions starts and then.... cliffhanger...
I will continue to listen to the Frontlines series but I'm concernd that I will be deeply disappointed at the end. Such a great story...

From A to B without much :)
As the other said. Basically nothing happening and then this really non fitting voice over replacement.
Well all the books before were nice, let's see for part 8 :)

Hard to concentrate on the story
The narrator‘s continuous and erratically timed loud sharp inhale made it very difficult to get through the book. Luke Daniels was better in all aspects. But good story.

meh
the story is catching to long to much details just to fill time. the story itself is not so great, not much exiting and the end keeps.open, even it's getting more interesting I'd there weren't the long lasting time fills with useless information. example. 15 minutes of bla bla about.the exuqiirum Drive (FTL) and even more details about military rank.
The performance of the speaker might not be bad, I simple like the one before better. maybe this is because I was so used to it.

New voice actor, uneventful story
I don't get why they changed the voice actor. Eric Dove is pretty close to Luke Daniels so it isn't a huge problem, but it annoys me nonetheless.
The story itself is okay; lots of character background, little action. Personally, I don't take an issue with this at all, but for some people it might feel rather boring.
