It's not easy being the only human at the Community of Species Government - and especially not when you're the rescue case. Two years ago, I was planning to go to college, have a wild time, then settle into a normal life. Instead, I was kidnapped, spent months being a test subject, was in hiding for nearly a year, and then found out that my whole existence is a science experiment conducted by the bad guys. It's definitely time to reassess.
My rescuers at CSG have been awesome...mostly. They gave me a job, a home, and a support network. But the whole demons, vampires, shifters thing is not easy to get used to. Especially when one particular vampire makes me want to take up stake sharpening for a hobby.
The thing is, teenage mentality or not, Andrew is a fierce protector. With the bad guys still on the loose, I need someone like that on my side. Plus, did I mention that he's not hard to look at?
As we race to find my former captor before he can find me, life takes another twist and upends my world all over again. This time, though, I'm ready - after all, I've got an 800-year-old vampire at my back. What could possibly go wrong?

Combined with Joel Leslie's wonderful voice and amazing skills in bringing life to any story and character, it's a great listening experience.
Now I head on to part 3 of the series.
Faszination, Exciting & Funny

Noah is a great addition and a young man who has lived through trauma. I did very much feel for him.
But after I loved the first book so much I have minor critics here. First the narrator can't keep Andrews accent. Noah sounds just like Sam most of the time and Andrew sometimes sounds like Gideon. I know it's just his voice and the pronunciation, but it bothers me.
Second, the sex was great, but do we really always just get the bottom pov? The pov swap felt very awkward here. I know it might be difficult for a female author but not undoable/unwritable.
But the plot was very good and I wanna hear more about the magic and this new species. I'm downloading book 3 now.

Der Schreibstil war wieder solide – kann mich für das Genre nicht beschweren.
Was mich aber sehr gestört hat, war das Rekapitulieren, wie Noah bei unseren Boys gelandet ist. Es war einfach wie eine Gebrauchsanweisung geschrieben und da die Reihe ja keine Stand-Alone Bücher beinhaltet, war es wirklich nervig. Ich denke, das hätte man eleganter machen können.
Der Plot war so lala, aber das ist vielleicht auch nicht das Wichtigste in diesem Genre. (Auch wenn ich das Ende mit der orangenen Wiese – ihr wisst, wovon ich rede – sehr faszinierend fand und ich hoffe, es wird noch aufgegriffen)
Als die Anziehung zwischen Noah und Andrew einmal da war, fand ich es faszinierend, auch wenn ich – wie bei Band eins – voll nicht hinterhergekommen bin, wie es dazu kam. Es passiert mir zu viel zwischen den Seiten, wo wir nicht mitgenommen werden.
Es macht Spaß für unterwegs – ich höre es zum Beispiel beim Sport – ist aber nichts, wo man wirklich in die Tiefe geht mit Plot und Charakteren. (Vor allem das Noahs PTBS so oberflächlich behandelt wurde, fand ich ernüchternd.)
Naja, auf zu Band drei :’D
