At first I was skeptical of this mixture, but this book is really good. Hints of paranormal but not to pushy to make it some kind of a teenage-ghost story. The characters are believable and so the book becomes a page turner.

I like it when character get slowly developed. It is not the usual fantasy I am used to but has interesting characters that want me to look into book two.

... but this was one of the most boring books I ever heard. Sorry. Why? Well the promised dark secrets are so dark, that it is not easy to find them, the powers in the shadows too often something that results in seeing puppies (they are an omen) and a dead body from time to time does not create suspension.

Maybe the upcoming love story? Well upcoming is right and the whole book feels like a prologue. 14 hours for a prologue is too long.

Maybe my expectations were wrong...
