I really liked olive because it portrays a character that is rarely depicted in modern literature. The problems are very well observed and described with treat empathy. I wished the world had more of such understanding people around :)

Inspiring story with very relateble characters

I loved that the book portrayed a realistic take on different goals and drives that women have in and for the future. Not every women wants to get married and have kids and this should be accepted, however, society pushes women to follow this classical path. I could very much relate to childless and childfree characters that constantly have to justify not having a partner or children yet. I have had countless similar conversations and felt completely misunderstood by the person standing in front of me. It is infuriating that people don't have the sensibility to think that maybe the woman is trying to have a baby but can't... or that maybe she just doesn't want any babies. In any case it is a personal topic and doesn't need to be discussed with everybody, especially with some stranger/some acquaintance. I am asking myself similar questions as the characters are in the book: do I need children in my future to be happy? or would I feel more fulfilled in having (just) a relationship with a partner? Processing some of the different choices through the stories of the 4 friends was like having a dialogue with an understanding friend. I haven't got the answers yet, but I'm getting there.
